Creating a New Breed of Design

as the Director of Design Education at Flatiron School

For more than 18 years, I found a variety of ways to foster the design community but this was the first time I was able to commit fully to the education of our future designers. The outputs are less tangible and the traditional design deliverables flew out the door but the rewards were satisfying in a very different way.

: Student Portal

The student user experience is a critical one for Pearson and the much needed interface design needed new interaction concepts. User tested and metrics validated, new iterations of the interfaces were launched successfully.

: Teacher Portal

Behind the scenes are the teachers who work timely to setup classes, materials and assignments. The iterative design of the teacher portal takes a much needed evaluation. With more access, tracking student progress, grading was easily improved.

: Single Sign-on

Login given the sear number of Pearson products were confusing and problematic. Integration of Google increased usage and ease of login by 2x.

: Google Classroom Integration

With the high use of Google Classroom by teachers, the need to simply the classroom creation became obvious. Gone were the days of manually creating classes in both places.

Lead and executed the UX and creative design of the Visanow rebrand for both desktop and mobile. Deliverables included wireframes, testing results, high fidelity designs as well as Wordpress implementation with vendor.
